Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school settings. Training is provided, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff to support classroom learning and student growth.

This entry-level, full-time AmeriCorps role offers a structured year with a living stipend and access to benefits while serving in City Year locations across the United States.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (Authorization to work in the U.S. is required).
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or a college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success and improve attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers on in-class activities.
• Support 1:1 and small group work, literacy and math development, and behavior management systems.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student data and participate in progress reviews.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with teachers.
