Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high schools to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor individual student progress, collaborate with teachers on in-class support and group activities, and contribute to school-wide initiatives to engage students and families.

Experience isn’t required; City Year provides 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and ongoing guidance

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff to support students.
• Commitment to coaching and mentoring to improve academic outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups across grade levels.
• Assist with literacy and math activities and monitor student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and student behavior.
