Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high school to help them achieve academic success and improve attendance. You will plan and monitor student progress, and work with teachers on classroom instruction and student support.

Experience in all tasks is not necessary; City Year provides 2-4 weeks of training at the start of the year and ongoing support from teachers and staff throughout the term.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025 and have a GED or high school diploma (or higher).
• Willing to complete a background check and start by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success and improve attendance.
• Plan and monitor progress for individuals and groups 1:1 and small groups.
• Collaborate with teachers on classroom instruction and student support.
• Support and participate in city-wide student engagement initiatives.
