Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as entry-level, paid, full-time mentors focused on improving student success. You will coach elementary to high school students, track progress, and collaborate with teachers to support in-class learning and behavior development.

Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing support from school staff and an emphasis on growth, literacy and math skill development, attendance improvement, and student engagement.

Qualifications

• Be willing to serve as City Year AmeriCorps member.
• No prior credential required; training provided at start of year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to student levels.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to track student data in City Year’s system.
• Help foster a safe, engaging classroom environment.
