Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors, supporting elementary to high school students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior. Training is provided; you will work closely with teachers and school staff to foster a positive learning environment.

You will gain hands-on experience in tutoring, classroom support, and program coordination while contributing to school-wide initiatives and student growth.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps program

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Plan and monitor student progress and support classroom instruction
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to student levels
• Create and implement positive behavior plans for students
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student data and progress
• Support extended day and virtual programs before, during, and after school
