Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps Member is an entry-level, full-time paid role focused on coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success, improved attendance, and positive classroom behavior. Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and school staff.

You will support individual students and groups, help with literacy and math activities, and contribute to whole-school initiatives to boost engagement for students and families.

Qualifications

• No specific degrees required; training provided at start of year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to improve literacy, math, attendance and behavior.
• Create and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers to support class instruction.
• Develop and implement behavior management and interpersonal skills programs.
• Assist with planning and running extended day and virtual programs before, during, and after school.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives to engage students and families.
