Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to boost academic success, attendance, and positive school behaviors. Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff to support individualized student progress.

You will engage with elementary to high school students, support literacy and math development, and help create a safe, engaging classroom environment while participating in city-wide initiatives and AmeriCorps benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience with coaching and mentoring students is valued but not required; full training provided (2–4 weeks) at the start of the year.
• Ability to support academics and student progress, with collaboration with teachers and school staff.
• Willingness to participate in AmeriCorps program requirements and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance, and behaviors.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and facilitate in-class student assistance.
• Support teachers with small-group work, classroom activities, and engagement initiatives.
• Contribute to school-wide programs and events to promote student achievement and well-being.
