Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as entry-level mentors, coaching students to improve academic success and school attendance. You will work in elementary through high schools, plan individualized progress, and partner with teachers to support whole-class instruction and targeted interventions.

New AmeriCorps members receive 2–4 weeks of training and ongoing guidance from partner staff while contributing to city-wide education initiatives and student development.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (authorization to work in the U.S. is required).
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025 and have at least a high school diploma, some college, or a degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group coaching to students.
• Support literacy and math skill development through varied activities.
• Create and implement behavior management and positive student supports.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress in City Year data systems.
• Help plan and lead extended day, after-school, and virtual programming.
• Contribute to a safe, engaging classroom environment with teachers.
