Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior, supporting teachers and school-wide programs. The role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training and collaboration with classroom staff to monitor progress using City Year data systems.

You will contribute to engaging, safe learning spaces and participate in extended day and after-school activities, with benefits and AmeriCorps education awards available.

Qualifications

• Entry-level AmeriCorps role with initial training provided (2–4 weeks).
• Interest in supporting academic success and school engagement.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff to support students.

Responsibilities

• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities and encourage assignment completion.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through learning, practice, reflection, and repetition.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, and monitor student progress in City Year data systems.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support school initiatives to increase engagement with students and families.
• Assist with extended day and virtual programming, enrichment and intervention activities.
