Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school. You will plan and monitor progress, collaborate with teachers, and support in-class and after-school activities.

Training is provided (2–4 weeks) at the start, and members work with teachers and school staff throughout the year to foster student growth and engagement in the City Year program.

Qualifications

• Experience in mentoring students is beneficial.
• Ability to plan and monitor student progress.
• Openness to training and collaborate with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to support academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual progress and collaborate with teachers.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces and support after-school programs.
• Lead 1:1 and small-group work to develop literacy or math skills.
• Support and/or co-lead events recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
• Participate in collecting and reviewing student progress data.
