Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success and improve attendance. You will plan student progress, work with teachers on classroom instruction, and support literacy and math activities.

The role provides 2–4 weeks of initial training, with ongoing coaching and opportunities to engage in after-school programs and school initiatives in a dynamic educational setting.

Qualifications

• Entry-level AmeriCorps member with willingness to learn and be trained.
• Ability to coach and mentor students across grades.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance
• Plan and monitor student progress and support teachers
• Support literacy and math skill development with varied activities
• Create and maintain a positive classroom space in collaboration with teachers
• Participate in extended day and after-school programs
• Assist with data collection and progress reviews for students

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
