Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as entry-level, full-time tutors and mentors in partner schools, focusing on helping students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and build positive behaviors. No prior teaching experience is required; 2–4 weeks of initial training are provided, followed by ongoing collaboration with teachers and school staff.

• Experience in mentoring or coaching students is valued.
• Willingness to participate in training and develop instructional skills.
• Ability to plan and monitor student progress and adapt to needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement literacy and math activities tailored to level.
• Create and apply behavior management strategies in the classroom.
• Track student progress and participate in data reviews.
• Support school initiatives to boost engagement with students and families.
