City Year AmeriCorps members serve as entry-level, full-time tutors and mentors in schools, focusing on coaching students to achieve academic success and improved attendance. Training ranges from 2–4 weeks, with ongoing support from teachers and school staff throughout the year.

Members participate in extended day and virtual programs, engage in service activities with students, and receive comprehensive benefits and relocation support where applicable.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsabilités

• Provide 1:1 and small-group coaching for identified students.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to each student.
• Create and implement a behavior management plan for students.
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, and monitor student progress.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in partnership with the teacher.
• Support school-wide initiatives to boost student engagement with families.
