Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high schools to help them achieve academic success and improve attendance. You will plan and monitor progress while collaborating with teachers on classroom instruction and student support.

Expanded training (2–4 weeks) begins the year; this is a paid full-time service with benefits including health coverage, a living stipend, relocation support and education awards as you contribute to student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Be able to pass a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Plan and monitor individual student progress
• Work with teachers on in-class instruction and student support
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students
• Participate in reviews of student data in City Year’s student data system
