Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level, paid, full-time AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will support academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors while collaborating with teachers on instruction and classroom activities.

Training is provided (2–4 weeks) at the start of the year, and you’ll work with partner teachers and staff every step of the way to help students thrive and grow within City Year programs.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to promote academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress with teachers and school staff.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Help create engaging, safe, and healthy classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
