Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level, full-time AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will focus on academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors while collaborating with teachers to support students’ learning goals.

Training is provided at the start; the role emphasizes hands-on support in classrooms and during after-school programs, with benefits typical of City Year AmeriCorps positions.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring students is not required; 2–4 weeks of training provided at start.
• Ability to work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support and implement literacy/math activities and behavioral strategies.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic performance and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress with teachers.
• Collaborate with teachers to create supportive in-class activities.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment.
• Contribute to school-wide engagement and enrichment initiatives.
