Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level, paid, full-time Student Success Coach and Mentor to support students across elementary through high school. As an AmeriCorps member you will coach and mentor students, help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and foster positive behaviors.

The role includes planning and monitoring progress and working with teachers on in-class support. You will receive 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and collaborate closely with partner teachers

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and Authorization to work in the U.S. required.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to earn academic success.
• Improve attendance and develop positive behaviors at school.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on classroom activities.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students in 1:1 and small-group settings.
• Assist with extended day and virtual programming services, enrichment, and student clubs.
