Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level, paid full-time AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school. You will plan and monitor student progress, work with teachers on in-class activities, and help create a positive classroom environment.

The program provides initial 2–4 weeks of training and supports staff with various AmeriCorps benefits and student development initiatives.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; training provided at start of year.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff to support students.
• Genuine interest in helping students succeed and participate in school activities.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and document data in City Year’s system.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students and families.
