Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school. You will plan progress, support classrooms, and contribute to a positive, engaging learning environment.

You will participate in training at year start and work closely with teachers to reinforce literacy, math, attendance, and behavioral goals, while benefiting from AmeriCorps programs and location-specific supports.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring students is not required; City Year provides 2–4 weeks of training at start.
• Ability to plan and monitor student progress with teachers and staff.
• Willingness to work with elementary to high school students in in-class or after-school settings.

Responsibilities

• Coaching 1:1 and small groups to improve literacy and math skills.
• Support teachers with in-class instruction and student progress reviews.
• Develop behavior management and interpersonal skills in students.
• Assist with after-school and virtual programs for student engagement.
• Collaborate to record and monitor student data in City Year systems.
