Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in elementary to high school settings, helping students achieve academic growth and improve attendance.

As an entry-level, paid, full-time role, you will receive 2–4 weeks of training and collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and student development across whole-school initiatives. You will plan and monitor individual progress and participate in data reviews to support a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Entry-level AmeriCorps role with 2–4 weeks training at the start of the year.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement behavior management systems for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through learning strategies and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year data system.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space with the teacher.
