Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high schools, helping them earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. Training is provided at the start of the year.

This is a full-time, entry-level role with a strong focus on collaboration with teachers and school staff. You will plan and monitor student progress, work with classrooms, and participate in school-wide initiatives to support student growth and engagement.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff every step of the way.
• Strong desire to help students succeed and develop positive behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Plan and monitor student progress and assist with whole class instruction and in-class student support.
• Support and/or conduct extended day and virtual programming for students before, during and after school.
