Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and build positive classroom behaviors. Training is provided, and you will work closely with partner teachers and school staff to support students and schools.

This entry-level, full-time AmeriCorps role offers a paid living stipend and benefits while contributing to community impact and educational equity across classrooms.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring students to improve academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class support and data tracking.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students 1:1 and in small groups to boost literacy, math and attendance.
• Develop and implement behavior and interpersonal skills programs for students.
• Coordinate with teachers and staff to review student data and progress.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
• Support extended day and virtual programs including enrichment, homework support and clubs.

Education

GED or high school diploma
