Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance, and behavior across elementary, middle and/or high school levels. You will plan individual progress, partner with teachers, and support school-wide initiatives, while undergoing initial training at the start of the year.

Qualifications

• Willing to commit to a City Year service year.
• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma, some college or degree.
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms previously.
• Be able to pass a background check.
• Available to start by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class support and student assistance.
• Create a positive, engaging classroom environment.
• Participate in training and City Year activities with staff and partners.
