Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive school behaviors. Training is provided at the start of the year, and you will work closely with teachers and school staff to support students across classrooms.

You’ll plan individualized progress, participate in classroom activities, and help lead engaging programs before, during, and after school.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to promote academic success, attendance, and positive behavior in school.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and student support.
• Support and participate in extended day and virtual programming, clubs, service learning and leadership development.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
• Collaborate with staff to collect and analyze student data and participate in reviews.
