Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to promote academic success and positive behaviors. You will work with teachers to support classroom instruction, progress tracking, and school-wide initiatives.

Training is provided, with ongoing support from partner teachers and school staff throughout the year. This entry-level, paid full-time role offers a path to develop skills in education, youth development, and community impact.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring elementary to high school students.
• Assist with literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Support attendance and positive behaviors.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff on student progress.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and data.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students.
