Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students in elementary, middle, and high school to foster academic achievement, better attendance, and positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress, working with teachers on classroom support.

This entry-level, full-time role provides 2–4 weeks of initial training and ongoing guidance as you serve in U.S. schools, with AmeriCorps benefits and a bi-weekly stipend.

Qualifications

• Experience not necessary; 2–4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Be eligible to work in the U.S.; be 17–25 by July 1, 2025; have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or a college degree.
• Be a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted for permanent residence; able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress; support teachers with in-class instruction and student assistance.
• Support after-school and in-class initiatives to increase student engagement and learning.
