Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high school to help them earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You plan and monitor progress and work with teachers on instruction and student support.

We provide 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year; the role is entry-level, paid, and full-time with AmeriCorps benefits. Eligibility includes U.S.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; DACA status not eligible.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor and review student progress.
• Help create a positive, engaging classroom space in partnership with teachers.
