Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to strengthen academic performance, attendance, and positive behavior in elementary to high school settings. This entry-level, paid, full-time role includes training and ongoing guidance from experienced teachers.

As part of City Year’s mission, you will plan, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers to support whole-class instruction and targeted interventions. A dedication to service and education is essential.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and document data.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to each student
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and review student progress data
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space
