Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them earn academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors. You’ll plan and monitor progress, support teachers in instruction, and participate in in-class and after-school activities with a focus on 1:1 and small-group work.

Qualifications

• Experience in these tasks is not required; 2–4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident eligible to work in the U.S.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025 and available to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class.
• Create engaging, safe learning environments and support after-school activities.
• Assist with literacy and math activities and encourage completion of assignments.
• Collaborate with staff to collect and review student data for progress checks.
