Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success and improve attendance. You will plan and monitor individual progress, support teachers with instruction, and assist with whole-class activities and in-class student support.

The role includes 2-4 weeks of initial training, with ongoing collaboration with partner teachers and staff to maximize student outcomes in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. Training will be provided at the beginning of the year (2-4 weeks). You will work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers with classroom instruction and student assistance.
• Support extended day and after-school programs, including enrichment, intervention and clubs.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces and contribute to school-wide initiatives to increase student engagement.
