Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level, paid full-time AmeriCorps member to coach and mentor students across grade levels. You will focus on helping students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school.

Training is provided at the start of the year and you’ll work with partner teachers to support instruction and student outcomes. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers and school staff, with opportunities to lead literacy and math activities, track

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program*
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to support academic progress.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development activities.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied learning activities.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support school-wide initiatives and after-school programming for student engagement.
