Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors, focusing on coaching and mentoring elementary, middle and/or high school students to earn academic success and improve attendance.

Begin training with 2–4 weeks at the start of the year; work with partner teachers and school staff throughout the year, with opportunities to support literacy, math, and behavior development.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; DACA status not eligible.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.
• Agree to and complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle, or high school students 1:1 or in small groups.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class activities.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with teachers.
