Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance, and behavior across elementary to high school levels. Training begins with 2–4 weeks of onboarding, followed by year-long service alongside teachers and school staff in a supportive learning environment.

You will develop literacy and math skills through varied activities, monitor progress, and participate in data reviews while helping create an engaging, safe classroom space.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; work authorization in the U.S. required.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025 and committed to service with City Year.
• GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree required.
• Background check required; ability to begin by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to support academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and assist with in-class activities.
• Collaborate with teachers on instruction and student supports in the classroom.
• Support extended day and after-school programming, enrichment, and leadership development.
• Contribute to a safe, engaging classroom environment and track student progress.
