Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high school to boost academic success and attendance. This entry-level, paid, full-time role includes training at year start and close collaboration with teachers to support classroom instruction.

You will monitor student progress, lead literacy and math activities, and help create an engaging, safe learning environment while contributing to school-wide initiatives and community service.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; work authorization required.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma; some college or degree accepted.
• No more than three terms in AmeriCorps state or national program.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress with teachers.
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and student assistance.
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
