Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to achieve academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors in partnership with teachers and school staff. You’ll support classrooms, small groups and individual students across grade levels.

Training begins at year start (2–4 weeks) and continues with ongoing guidance. This full-time, entry‑level role offers a bi-weekly living stipend and a suite of benefits through City Year and AmeriCorps.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of initial training provided.
• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to track progress.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, analyze and review student progress.
• Help create an engaging, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
