Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level City Year AmeriCorps Member to coach and mentor students across grade levels. You will help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and foster positive behaviors, working with teachers on in-class support and individualized progress plans. Training is provided; candidates must be U.S.

citizens or eligible residents and available to start by July/August. The role emphasizes service, community impact, and ongoing development through AmeriCorps

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary; training provided at start of year.
• Plan and monitor student progress and work with teachers on class instruction.
• Develop strategies to support attendance and positive behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress.
• Support and/or conduct extended day and virtual programming for students.
• Create, support and/or co-lead events recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
