Job summary

City Year is hiring an entry-level, paid, full-time Student success coach and mentor. AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students, plan progress, and collaborate with teachers to improve attendance and behavior.

Training is provided, with start dates in July/August 2025 and ongoing support from City Year staff. You will contribute to whole-school initiatives, engage families, and participate in a comprehensive benefits package typical for AmeriCorps placements.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma, some college or degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and pass a background check.
• Be able to start City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers.
• Support in-class instruction, breakout spaces, and student assistance.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with teachers.
• Support extended day and after-school programming and events.
• Participate in data collection and progress reviews with staff.
