Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across grade levels. You will help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive school behaviors while collaborating with teachers and school staff throughout the year.

Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing support from partner teachers. Candidates must meet AmeriCorps eligibility, including citizenship status, age range, and background check

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Willing to undergo a background check

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers on classroom instruction
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students before, during and after school
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher
