Job summary

City Year, an AmeriCorps program, seeks an entry-level, full-time City Year AmeriCorps Member to coach and mentor students toward academic success, improved attendance, and positive school behavior.

You will plan and monitor progress, collaborate with teachers, and support whole-class instruction and after-school activities. Training is provided, with benefits and opportunities aligned to City Year locations.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location)

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success, improve attendance and develop positive behaviors
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers with instruction
• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups
• Support literacy and/or math skill development with varied activities
• Create and implement behavior management strategies for students
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, analyze and monitor student progress
