Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member is an entry-level, full-time role focused on coaching and mentoring students across grade levels to boost academic success, attendance, and behavior. You’ll plan and monitor progress, collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction, and participate in school-wide initiatives.

Training provided, no prior experience required; you’ll work with teachers and staff and receive a bi-weekly stipend and benefits.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Aged 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Background check readiness
• Able to start by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and math activities by student level
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor progress
• Maintain student data in City Year’s data system
• Support extended day and after-school programs
