Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, helping improve academics, attendance and behavior. Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and a focus on 1:1 and small-group support to drive student success.

You’ll participate in extended day and virtual programs, gain hands-on mentoring experience, and receive City Year benefits and a bi-weekly living stipend.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and eligible for work in the U.S.
• 17–25 years old by July 1, 2025 and able to begin by July/August 2025
• GED or high school diploma required; some college is a plus
• Background check required and service terms limited to AmeriCorps

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Plan activities to develop literacy and math skills
• Implement behavior management and foster student progress
• Collaborate with teachers to record and review data
• Support after-school and school-wide engagement initiatives
