Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, focusing on academic success, attendance and positive behavior. Training is provided at start, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and school staff throughout the year.

You will participate in evidence-based methods to monitor progress, support engaging classroom activities, and contribute to district- and school-wide initiatives for student growth and family engagement.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; authorization to work in the U.S. required.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025; willing to start July/August 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement behavior management systems.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress in City Year data system.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom space.
