Job summary

City Year in the United States is seeking an entry-level Student Success Coach and Mentor as a full-time AmeriCorps member. You will coach and mentor students, help them earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school.

You’ll plan and monitor student progress, work with teachers on in-class support, and participate in school-wide programs. Training is provided, and location-based benefits support relocation and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Be a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Willing to commit to AmeriCorps service and training.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and data entry.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space with the teacher.
• Support extended day and after-school programming.
• Assist with school-wide initiatives to boost student engagement.
