Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor elementary, middle, and/or high school students to achieve academic success and improve attendance. You will plan and monitor student progress, work with teachers on class instruction and in-class student support, and foster positive behaviors in school.

Experience is not required; 2-4 weeks of training is provided at the start of the year and you will collaborate with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (Authorization to work in the U.S. is not sufficient).
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success and improve attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers with classroom instruction.
• Create engaging, safe, and supportive learning spaces in collaboration with teachers.
