Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level AmeriCorps member to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school. This full-time, paid role focuses on academic success, improved attendance and positive classroom behaviors, with you planning and monitoring progress.

You will train for 2–4 weeks, collaborate with teachers and school staff, and support both in-class and after-school programs. Benefits include AmeriCorps education awards and location-specific supports.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (authorization to work in the U.S. required).
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025 and available by July/August 2025.
• Have completed high school or equivalent; some college may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to improve academics.
• Develop literacy and math activities and encourage assignment completion.
• Create and implement a behavior management system in the classroom.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and participate in data reviews.
• Support school-wide initiatives to increase engagement with students and families.
