Job summary

City Year in the United States is seeking an entry-level City Year AmeriCorps member to coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. You will plan, monitor, and support student progress in collaboration with teachers, aiming to boost academic success and positive behaviors throughout the school day.

You will participate in a 2–4 week training, work with partner teachers, and contribute to school-wide initiatives to engage students and families.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Assist teachers with 1:1 and small group coaching and student progress tracking.
• Help develop literacy and math skills through varied activities and reinforce assignment completion.
• Create and implement behavior management and foster interpersonal skills throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by level.
• Create and implement a classroom behavior management system.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space with teachers.
