Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member will coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. Training of 2–4 weeks is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration with teachers.

You will support individualized student progress, participate in data reviews, and help create an engaging, safe classroom space. This is an entry-level, full-time service role in schools.

Qualifications

• Becoming City Year AmeriCorps member focuses on coaching and mentoring students.
• You will plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers on instruction.
• Training provided: 2–4 weeks at the start of the year.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to each student.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student progress data.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with teachers.
• Support after-school and virtual programs to boost engagement.
