Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member serves as a student success coach in schools, focusing on academic achievement, attendance, and behavior. You will plan progress, mentor students, and work with teachers on in-class support.

Training is provided (2–4 weeks) and you’ll collaborate with school staff to monitor progress and create engaging learning spaces. A relevant background checks and eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (DACA not eligible).
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025 and able to begin by July/August 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or a college degree.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily activities and repetition.
• Collaborate with teachers to track student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom environment with teachers.
