Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior in elementary to high school settings. This entry-level, paid, full-time role provides training and hands-on support in classrooms.

You'll work with teachers, plan progress, and participate in city-wide service initiatives while gaining college scholarship and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at start of the year.
• Ability to work with students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and school staff to monitor progress.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities for each student
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to track student progress and participate in data reviews
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space with the teacher
