Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success and improve attendance. You work with teachers on in-class support, plan progress and foster positive behaviors in school settings.

Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration to run extended day and after-school programs, service learning, and leadership development opportunities in a dynamic school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary.
• 2–4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual progress and support in-class instruction.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement behavior and learning strategies.
• Support extended day and after-school programming and clubs.
